Can you accommodate people with special needs?
Keweenaw Excursions seeks, to the extent feasible, to accommodate guests with special needs so they are able to enjoy our ship. For example, service animals are permitted on board the ship. In situations where a guest with special needs, such as a guest in a wheelchair, would be unable to be comfortably accommodated due to vessel safety barriers and other criteria, we may find it necessary to ask the guest to bring along a companion to assist or make alternative arrangements. Guests who have any type of medical, physical or other special needs are requested contact our office 231-237-9365 to discuss the details of their specific special needs.
What safety precautions do you maintain?
It is Keweenaw Excursions' utmost concern to provide our guests with a safe and enjoyable cruise. The Keweenaw Star meets, or exceeds, every Coast Guard regulation for passenger carrying ships. Our captains and crew are licensed, experienced sea men, with extensive knowledge of the Great Lakes.
What is your Beverage Menu?
Keweenaw Excursions’ on board bar boasts a variety of beer, wine and mixed drinks. We also offer bottled water, coffee, soda and other non-alcoholic beverages.
What is your Alcohol and Consumption policies?
Guests are prohibited from bringing alcoholic beverages on board the ship. Consumption of alcohol on board: The minimum age for the purchase and/or consumption of alcoholic beverages while on board is 21 years of age. In the event that the bartender questions that the guest is 21, he/she will require picture identification prior to serving the guest. Keweenaw Excursions reserves the right to refuse service to anyone.
Where is Lost and Found?
The Lost and Found is located at Keweenaw Excursions' Ticket Office. If you've lost anything, you should report the item to any crew member and ask if it's turned up yet. If you find anything, please turn it in to any crew member. After the ship docks, all found and unclaimed articles will be located at the Keweenaw Excursions Ticket Office located at 109 Bridge Park Drive.
Will I get seasick?
Seasickness is very rare because of the Keweenaw Star's size and weight, and the protection provided by the Lake Charlevoix. However, if you are highly prone to seasickness, another adventure may be more suitable, or, there are a variety of seasick medicines available and should be considered prior to making your plans. The Keweenaw Star does not carry medicines onboard.
What if the weather is inclement?
Weather is a big part of your cruise experience. Some weather conditions make your cruise more interesting, but Lake Michigan can get very fierce and treacherous even in the summer. It is the captains' duty to ensure your safe passage, therefore, Keweenaw Excursions reserves the right to alter or cancel any scheduled cruise.
